Tactical Combat Casualty Care Training...
Would you be able to save your own life or the life of another individual who has been wounded as a result of a Terrorist Attack or an Active Shooter Event?
Casualty Facts:
- 60% of battlefield deaths occur from Uncontrolled Bleeding!
- 35% of battlefield deaths occur from Tension Pneumothorax!
- 5% of battlefield deaths occur from Airway Obstructions!
Civilian & First Responder Training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care will provide you with the basic skills required to stabilize critically wounded individuals prior to the arrival of EMS or Tactical Medical Teams.
This one-day program teaches first responders such as police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, other public safety responders, as well as civilians the basic medical care interventions that will help save an injured person’s life until EMS or Tactical Medical Personnel can safely enter the tactical environment or arrive on scene.
The medical care approach is divided into phases of care, depending on the tactical situation. The course combines classroom didactics with practical hands-on training. Each participant will learn how to recognize and treat life-threatening bleeding, using a tourniquet and/or a hemostatic agent for locations where a tourniquet cannot be used. Other skills the participants will learn are protecting the airway, applying a vented chest seal for chest wounds, recognition of a tension pneumothorax, and applying a pressure dressing for minor bleeds.
Care Under Fire & Tactical Field Care:
- Airways – Adjuncts & Definitive Control
- Hemorrhage & Shock
- Chest Injuries
- Tourniquet Application
- Packing a Ballistic Wound – Gun Shot or Shrapnel
- I.F.A.K. – Individual First Aid Kit/Trauma Level
The Tactical Casualty Care Course was derived from the military’s Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course. The TCCC course was developed by the U.S. military and introduced evidence-based, life-saving techniques and strategies on the battlefield in tactical situations. It has also been documented to produce dramatic improvements in casualty survival in Iraq and Afghanistan. TCCC is the only set of battlefield trauma care guidelines endorsed by the American College of Surgeons.
